weekend wine-finds + a psa/tmi moment

wine-find (and cheese!):
after a rough start to our 2nd registering experience (short version: i said something irksome, Evs did the hot-head thing, there were tears, then there was snapping at the Pottery Barn lady, then there was diet coke, then things shaped up), Evs suggested we go across the street and check out this cute little wine bar we'd spied a couple weeks ago (reason #387 why i'm marrying this man).
well, our first Crush experience did not disappoint. the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and the wines are very reasonable (very few bottles over $30). we will definitely be returning and i can't wait to take advantage of their ladies' happy hour events on thursdays.

anyhoo, its officially fall, which means its officially time for this little wino to switch from whites to reds, and i discovered a great pinot noir at Crush:

Mark West Pinot Noir 2007, CA.

tonight, i've paired my Mark West with my new favorite cheese find - Tillamook Smoked Medium Cheddar from Oregon (for purchase at Central Market or Tom Thumb). delish!

dallas psa/tmi:
today, my fabulous new work buddy, HH, and i took advantage of a great "Nail Down the Election" special at the Nail Bar. we also decided to bite the bullet and do a little... errr, below the belt grooming as well. well i do declare, i have never recieved a better wax in my life! sadia is a freakin' persian wonder and i've never met someone in that business more meticulous and professional. clean as a whistle, i tell you! i highly recommend her waxing and threading services to anyone! plus, Nail Bar is BYOB, available for parties, and their services menu is hysterically fun! where else can you call in for a "Bo Derick" instead of having to say "um, yeah, i'd like, um, a brazillian."

(my little piggies, decked out in my fav-fall OPI: Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ)

fabulous Sunday!!!

  4. never fear my dear RJB, the tears and snapping were short lived... and like most tiffs between the Evs and me, easily solved by an intravenous drip of diet coke!

  5. I LOVE Crush - we've been going there since before the name change when it was Best Cellars! Right around the corner from Crush (on Travis) is another great wine place - there is a wine shop called Chateau and it has Bodega Bar in the back - also fantastic!
