I have a supa-dupa (fly) treat for all my lovely readers today (huge apologies for any confusion last night)! Up for grabs is a hand-crafted silk scarf / wrap - 100% original and custom-made just for one lucky winner!
A little back story in regards to this truly unique swag...
Several years ago, dear friends of my parents retired in Bali (um, I know, lucky ducks, right? Oh. And once, my parents visited them and failed to invite me. This was the same year they failed to invite me to the National Championship game against USC. Nope. Not still bitter about either of these events. Not at all. Not one little bit.).
Anyhoo, these fabulous jet-setting friends have made quite the connections in the local artist community. One such connection is the talented Agus Suryanto, or Bagus (meaning "good") to his friends and fans. Suryanto studied design in Jakarta and jump-started his career with a line of ready-to-wear clothes for men and women. He recently launched a line of custom, one-of-a-kind silk and linen scarves which are currently on sale in select shops in New England and Europe. You can read more about Suryanto's work (and check out a few more sample scarves) by visiting his website (and get a load of that raspberry-muddled-with-bronze creation on the front page!).
Some examples from Suryanto's collection:
Delicious, yes? There really is nothing more saucy-sexy-luscious-dreamy than swathing oneself in silk, now is there? While asking me to pick a favorite accessory is like asking a mother to pick her favorite child, I do get an immense amount of pleasure in my scarf and pashmina collection. Silk scarves are timeless and seasonless accessories - they can take a "meh" outfit of a black top and jeans to a whole new level, add a burst of texture and color to your basic winter coat, and keep you looking chic while starving off that frigid office A/C!
These would make a truly unique and special gift or add a pop of luxury to your own closet! Personally, I'm jonesin' for the almost-giraffe-like pattern woven into the purple and sterling examples above. And the bright multicolored wrap? Reminds me of the punchy creations in Tibi and Shoshana's 2010 resort lines! And if you're just in need of a gorgeous, solid basic piece? Suryanto can whip that up for you as well!
So let's get on with it... Here are the Rules / Disclaimers:
- Receive 1 entry by leaving a comment, telling me what your custom Suryanto scarf would look like (don't worry - you can change your mind or tweak your specifications if you win!)
- Receive 1 extra entry by tweeting or blogging about this giveaway (leave a link to your tweet or post in the comments)
- Comments will close on Monday, January 18, 2009 at 9:00 p.m. CST.
- The winner will be chosen using www.random.org and announced on Tuesday, January 19, 2009.
- Once the winner is announced, he or she will have until Thursday, January 21, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. CST to email me their scarf specifications - otherwise, I will choose another winner. Since the scarf is custom-made, I need to get the order to Suryanto ASAP so he can make the scarf in time to send with our friends when they return to the States!
- The winner will receive their scarf in early March... something to think about if you're planning on giving it as a present!
Good luck, lovely readers!

They are gorgeous! I fancy the reddish one second from the top- lovely.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Pish posh, random.org, just pick me.
ReplyDelete1. I think I'd choose a scarf much like the 2nd one you posted. The red is so gorgeous! I like the idea of a scarf that has subtle texture/prints, but is mostly monochromatic / easy to pair with lots of different outfits.
2. http://twitter.com/victoriaramirez/status/7748517783
Beautiful. I would choose a rich purple one!
ReplyDeleteI would love the bright blue one. Jewel tones are so pretty! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm all over wine/burgundy/purplish colors...love all of these scarves!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely...I love the 10th one, the orange/seafoam green one..love it. http://twitter.com/mrsjetplane
ReplyDeleteoooh these are gorgeous!! i'm thinking mine would be something like the first scarf or the silvery giraffish looking one, but in all goldtones.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! I would want one that has many different colors in it so that I could wear it with (mostly) anything. I wouldn't want it to be overpowering or too bright-but I'm sure it would look perfect! :)
ReplyDeletethese are so pretty! i love the brightly colored one. i would pick something similar to that.
ReplyDeleteMe LIKEY! Awesome giveaway... and since it has a spring arrival time... I'd go for pinks and yellows...maybe some lime!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I am the "scarf lady" at my office--I guess that's a good thing...?
ReplyDeleteThe purple and pink one is gorgeous! The purple is so rich and deep with that punch of bright pink. Lovely! (well, they all are!)
I like the purple with the hot pink at the bottom!!
ReplyDeleteSoo pretty!
ReplyDeleteMine would be dark forest green on one side, and then a lace pattern of lighter greens on the other.
Gorgeous! And I love the idea of using one of these to really dress up any outfit - black turtleneck, I am so there! And I don't think there is anything lovlier than red silk, so that would be my choice, something with a subtle patterning to it. Luscious! Thanks for the opportunity to win one of these!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway! They are all beautiful but I really love the deep purple one.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing giveaway!!! Thank you so much for hosting. I'd probably do something in a dark purple color! I tweeted about this giveaway: http://twitter.com/GoodGalsInc
ReplyDeleteThese are all really gorgeous! I'm kind of digging the red one second from the top...
ReplyDeleteI adore the green one and the multicolor one... They are all stunning and unique! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful! I'd choose an olive green one with the crosshatch pattern like the one on his website. But you clearly can't go wrong - I love them all!
ReplyDeleteoh my heavens this is a beautiful thing!! i have several scarves in my wardrobe, and i find that i wear and carry them no matter the weather as an extra layer and a way to add a punch of color or pull a couple of colors together. this is an awesome giveaway ~ if i were going to pick, it would be a combo of blues, browns and a slice of black. thanks very much for the link! have a great day and thanks for sharing ~

What a fabulous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the multicolored scarf!
Would be a fabulous birthday prezzie for me on the 19th {wink wink hint hint!}
I've just tweeted about the giveaway too!@tmcqueen
Wow! Those are so beautiful. I would love a basic scarf of black and white or maybe a little red that could be worn with everything.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scarves! I would like a purple and turquoise blue one I think...Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the fourth one down- so pretty and versatile! I'd choose something similar to this one.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed! :)
Those are beautiful! I think I would choose something similar to #3!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMine would be something with the same colors as the 3rd picture. Mint green, pink, yellow and maybe a sky blue. Perfect to help me think about Spring -- March is always a rough month in NYC!
Amazing giveaway! thanks for introducing us to a new artist... I'm honestly not sure what I would want it to look like... his creations are so lovely I might just give him a color palette to work with... say maybe Ruby red and silver or white?
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! I think mine would be red (or in that family) with a lovely pattern, but it is hard to be more specific.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this!
Too Many to choose from. I love the silver one or the pale green and taupe striped scarf. All are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful creations! I actually love the one on his homepage - the color, the text and the volume!
ReplyDeleteI'm so in to polka dots right now so I think I would design a polka dot scarf in some fun color (purple? green? yellow?)
ReplyDeleteLove love love all of these! I would go for one kind of like the 10th - I've never seen anything like it!
ReplyDeleteI would actually ask for YOUR advice on which colors would look best on me, then choose a print from there. I tend to end up with about 50 scarves, none of which do much for me except making me look washed out!
ReplyDeleteLoving the Italian Organza Silk and Korean Burned Linen scarf. I think it will go with the majority of my coats, etc.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
To be sooooo torn!!!! #9 would be fabulous over the basic black cashmere sweater that I pined for but couldn't bring myself to buy - until my Dad slipped me the cash at our family Christmas party with the "sshhh! don't tell your mother" admonition!!
ReplyDeleteBuuuuuut.......#10 would be great for over the shoulders when wearing my hawt, lavender halter dress I bought for a beach wedding in July!
Decisions, decisions!!! Either way, thanks for letting me drool!!!
Hello, i love your giveway :)

Hello! I'm a long time reader, first time poster!
ReplyDeleteThose are all so gorgeous! <3
If I could have a custom scarf, I think I would want it to be very similar to the 4th scarf you posted. Only, instead of royal blue, I would want it to be emerald green with hints of silver in the floral design. Also, I would want it to have no fringe on the end like the 6th scarf you posted.
Good luck to everyone! :) Can't wait to hear who the winner is.
I would love to win! I love the silvery one!

What a great great giveaway! I love the second to last one, and I'd wear the heck out of that thing, yes oh yes oh yes.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love #7! OOOH FABULOUSNESS! I tweeted too!
ReplyDeleteI love the purple one! I'd either get that in purple or blue since I have fair skin and blue/green eyes so those colors tend to suit me.
ReplyDeleteI could see myself wearing that on the weekends to the market or as an accessory on top of a dress for a spring wedding. It looks so comfortable and chic!
So beautiful. And of course, I'd love the pink. The contest ends on my birthday, so it's meant to be...
ReplyDeleteI shall tweet this as well.
I want (need) one of these scarves in a very deep, almost sapphire blue. totally my favorite color (and i look pretty good in the jewel tones)
ReplyDeletelink to my tweet about the giveaway: http://twitter.com/checkab
I love purple so would have to say the one on the top.... But all really really nice
ReplyDeleteOkay, these scarves were far too gorgeous to not come out of "full-on stalk the girl you once knew in high school mode" and say hello.
ReplyDeleteSo - Hi, Kate! It's been a good while! =) Love the site, love the photos in the bathroom and love the scarves!
That said - I love the homepage raspberry scarf or something like the one second from the bottom! Anything in a deep raspberry or plum and I'm happy!

ReplyDeleteI'd do something with a lot of colors so that I could wear it all the time.
Gorgeous! I think my favorite is the last one on the 1st row. The kinda gray looking one.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a scarf and would graciously give it to my 85 year old mother. She has a zest for life and enjoys dressing up and going out with me.
ReplyDeleteHer colors are blues, pinks, cool colors. She would be happy with a design by the artist.

A deep purple-ish blue with a bit of pattern would be lovely. All of them are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great, unique giveaway. I think my customer scarf would be very similar to the giraffe-like print, but in a deep blue or emerald.
ReplyDeleteIf I was designing for me I'd pick summery jewel tones with shades of golden yellow, canyon colored rusts, starry night blue, and some pinks the color of a summer sunset.
ReplyDeleteIt is so lovely to see that there are still truly one of a kind handmade scarves, my daughter and I like the 7th one rich in browns and earth tones. Thanks for the fun!
