friday porn... in the bedroom

Nope!  Friday Porn is still not that type-o-porn!

And, to use another statement that could be completely misconstrued... We're in a bedroom rut.

Nope!  Not that type of bedroom rut!  I'm just fed up with our bedroom decor...

Love our bedding (especially now that it's been summerized with the painterly paisley duvet folded at the foot and a new white pick-stitch quilt taking over as the Main Event in sleepy-body-coverage)...

Dig my little Grecian craft project now that it's moved from the hall to the bedroom wall...

Am satisfied with our wrought iron sleigh bed (C&B) and my cherry wood dresser (World Market)...

HATE EVERYTHING ELSE.

Hate our non-matching, sorry excuses for bedside tables.  Hate the mini-gallery on my side of the bed and the rando 8''x10'' single wedding print on Evs' side.  Hate that the background immediately behind our headboard is comprised of cheap, wrinkly beige blackout curtains that I got on sale at Bed, Bath, & Beyond because the ONLY place that makes sense for bed placement in this room is smack in front of a huge East-facing window.  Hate that I can't even show y'all a photo of my stupid, oddly decorated boudoir because my iPhone is taking FREAKIN' FOR-EV-VER (Sandlot-Style) to download this new 15G software or whatever the hell it is that everyone tells me I HAVE to download or I else will implode or the world will end or someone will eradicate every single piece of cheese on the planet or something else tragic.

I just want pretty and relaxing with a little touch of funk... some cottage charm and some airiness and a pinch of vintage and a pop of color.

I mean, really, is that so hard?  Is that too much to ask?

Le sigh.  Someday.  Until then...

What's the "feel" of your bedroom? How long did it take you to achieve that perfection?

  1. we started redoing our bedroom over a year ago, and it's still not done and i'm still not satisfied. i still have pictures and artwork hanging out on the floor waiting to be framed and hung. maybe i'll get some inspiration from those gorgeous bedrooms you just posted.

or maybe i'll just continue to walk around those pictures for another year.. sigh.

  2. I'm so happy you posted this! I have exhausted the internet looking for bedroom ideas but I have yet to see most of these. Our bedroom sucks as well and it drives me NUTS!

  3. I am still waiting on perfection! Our bedroom is a mash up of my middle school furniture and some (yikes!) dorm additions. This many years after college and a year after the wedding, I was hoping to have a room I wouldn't want to turn the lights off BEFORE I crawl into bed.

  4. I got some burlap-ish chocolate colored black out shades from BB&B for our bedroom, which look fab with the painterly paisley. They bring out the touch of brown in the paisley, and Hubs likes them b/c he thinks they are more manly. Hee.

  5. I think i saw those yellow w/blue bird pics (3rd pic down) at Z Gallerie yesterday (Alpha location) or something very simular. Maybe they will be the pop of color you need!

  6. Love them all... don't we ALL wish. I've been in a bedroom reno phase for what feels like months now and just cannot get it TOGETHER!

  7. as you know i have a thing for bedding so my bedroom is never done. every day i find new bedding and i'm like, "gimmie gimmie, i want it ALL NOW!" Right now our wedding is white, but I found this amazing grey, purple, and yellow with hints of silver sage bedding that i am in love with and am considering putting it in our room. Sigh. Mr. mojtio hates me.

We just bought mirrored side tables so now all we need are dressers which will hopefully be purchased by the end of the summer.

Oh and some paintings to hang in our bathroom {cough, cough} :)

  9. THANK you for posting this! We're moving and I'm using that as an excuse to start over with a blank slate for the bedroom (or at least the linens). But I'm so design-ly challenged that I had no idea where to even start looking for ideas.

  10. My bedroom is a lame disaster, haha. I have definite ideas for it, but sadly lawschool budget means I'm limited to $5 items here and there :) I can't wait to actually DO something with it, though!

  12. The feel of our bedroom is classic (well I think so). The bedding is restoration hardware inspired. We have a poster bed. I recently wrote a blog post about it if you are interested.

Beware: the before is SCARE-AY. And the after is still a work in progress, but it's better than it was.

It probably took a good year to get it to where it is now. I wish you luck in your bedroom.

    Post some pics, won't you?

  13. my bedroom is pretty much a pottery barn feel which I like. we got the furniture first-classic dark wood all matching set then played around with the duvet. we ended up with PB's stripe from last summer. the yellow in it goes well with the yellow bathroom.

i found these initial prints at an antique store and had them framed for above the bed. i would like to get something funky for my big dresser....

    great pics!

  14. We try to keep our bedroom simple. Simple colors, minimal clutter, BUT it rarely happens. I try and switch our bed linens with the seasons but I'm getting tired and want something new. I'd also love to paint to try and mix things up. We'll see!
