friday {decor} porn

I think my Anti-Superpower might just be The Propensity to Choose Almost-But-Very-Annoyingly-Not-Quite the Perfect Paint Color.

{My Actual Superpower would be The Complete Inability to Become Addicted to Nicotine. For serious, I've actively tried to become a smoker on three occasions and failed massively each time.  This is a post for another time, but, truly, I'm RJR's worst nightmare.}

Take La Casa Nueva, por ejemplo.  The PERFECT TAUPE I convinced Evs would be amazeballs in our office?  Is pink-hued.  (Oops.  There goes the Man Cave.  Sorry, Husband.)  The sunny yellow I selected for our upstairs den and the second guest room?  Looks great in said den... and looks lime-y in said guest room.

Even our bedroom, which I thought would be an exact match to (what I believe to be) Silver Sage in the master of the cottage, is much more blue... almost robin's egg.  While the second guest room and the office probably have some DIY repainting scheduled in their future, we actually kind of love the new blue in the master (thankfully... as my decorating ego couldn't take the third strike)!  It looks superb with our cheery yellow Painterly Paisley duvet and bright white quilt combo.  I hung our three Greece frames over our headboard and brought in some turquoise accents.  I also have these suckers on order in ivory/straw for (what I hope will be) some refreshing print-mixing.  Once we get the bedside table situation squared away, I think we'll be quite happy with the end result!

And, I finally got to use some of my much-loved, much-gazed-upon bookmarked decor blog posts...

Obviously our color palette swaps the orange for the yellow, and our blue hue is not quite as turquoise, but it's a similar contrast!

  2. My paint color choices turned out to be all wrong once applied to the walls, too. My slate blue bedroom is now sort of periwinkle and the dusty purple bathroom is more pink than dusty while the robins egg blue is more turquoise in the dining room. I should have bought the sample size cans. Live and learn!

    I loooove the shots you shared. Now I want it all!

  5. I usually save design pictures I love but after seeing these I just sent myself an email with this post's blog address (THAT is how lazy I am on this rainy Saturday). They're all amazing! On a different note, my husband's parents have been trying to decide on a taupe paint for approx 4 months and they claim all have too much pink or purple. So you're not alone.

    Great blog!
