all our bags are packed...

First, thank y'all so much for all the anniversary well-wishes... and for the decor logistic suggestions last week {fair warning, Emily & Barefoot Bird... expect a few pestersome emails from me upon our vacation return!}... Every single comment was much appreciated {as always}!

Well, we're down to wearing our crappy, laundry day underpants, which can only mean one thing...

Travel guides

Our 10 Day Italian Holiday is nearly upon us!

We've been planning this trip for almost a year and could not be more excited to board that plane tomorrow!

The globe-trotting bug bit the Evster and I as a couple pretty early on in our relationship.  We've taken six or seven "big" trips in our five years together, and I thought I'd share a few of our favorite travel moments in a scheduled posts over the next week and a half so the little, ol' blog won't get too lonely while we're away.   Look for those beginning mañana... or should I say, domani!

Ciao!

  2. You can get these on your blackberry so you can bookmark stuff and take them with (restaurants or hiking maps). This helps us NOT look like tourists on our travels.

  4. @Dfig - Yes, we have them on our iPhones as well, but I prefer the actual books for making notes and perusing beforehand, on the plane, and in our hotel room. I'm just not an electronic reader type of gal!

As far as looking like a tourist goes, I always get a little chuckle when people worry about this. I don't care how much care you take with your dress and how slyly you hide your camera, you don't speak the language and you're standing in line for the Uffizi... people know you're a tourist!

I come from more of the "don't be an OBNOXIOUS tourist" frame of mind... learn about & respect the culture, take care with your clothing choices, be conscientious in your speech, and adapt to the pace of life in the place you are visiting. As long as I'm doing those things, I don't worry too much about skimming my Frommers with my espresso!

Like, omg, have you read The Help!?! I kid.

I read In The Wild by Jon Krauker and loved it. I don't know if it's your style but I read it all in one day.

    The Kitchen House- Kathleen Grissom

And The Fixer Upper- Mary Kay Andrews (this one is very chic-y and not my usual thing but I loved it.)
