calling all WASPs

Well, I made my very first "vlog" last night, featuring a visual Voodoo Tea How-To.  It's a total Snorefest but it answered some questions I've received, re: herbage, so I figured "¿por que no?"  But then I realized I'd filmed myself sans brassiere, and that was taking the Hippie in HAKU just a little too far for my personal comfort.  So, until I have a bit more, urrrrmmm, support, you'll just have to survive without my recorded drag queen voice droning on about white peony root.

Devastating, I know.

IN THE MEANTIME!

What does one wear to the Byron Nelson?

I mean, I totally have my Kate Middleton gestures down pat, but I'm afraid I'm at a loss when it comes to attire, as my style is more Patio than Par.

Advise me, por favor.

{Be warned, however... If your answer contains the words khaki and/or polo shirt, WE ARE NO LONGER FRIENDS.}

  1. Love a button down shirt dress for this kind of occasion.

    Here are some lovely ones:

  2. I've been to the masters a few times and you're always good with a sundress and some fairly comfortable sandals. A skirt and a nice t shirt works well. OR you could do some cute shorts and a button up oxford. Probably not much help, but good luck!

  3. It depends on how hot it's going to be this weekend. Usually, everyone comes home sunburned, tired, and a little tipsy.

But, since you are currently not drinking without moderation the tipsy part won't be a factor. But, I bet the heat and sun will be. If you are going with E's firm they might have a tent that will provide shade (and usually snacks!) but if you are going general admission you will be out in the sun all day long.

So, I would wear something comfortable and light that won't show huge sweat marks. If you want to wear heels make sure they are wedges because you'll sink into the grass.

What about a cute sundress with those metallic revas or sandals?

But, the majority of people will be in shorts, polo shirts, and sneakers. Boo! They have no imagination!

  4. If you're not feeling a shirt dress - hate buttons or something. How about a wrap dress ala DVF? You said we couldnt be friends if I said polo shirt... but I do think you should strongly consider the polo dress. It will be SO hot at the tournament, and the pique weave will breathe really well.

Wear comfortable shoes! Since you'll be on grass if you're watching the tournament, I would recommend you rock some sperrys or chic sandals.

Feel free to rock a big floppy sunhat and huge shades.

  6. i sweated my ass off last year. wear a skirt or dress - keeps the nethers aired out. ;) and def spaghetti straps or something that won't leave awful tans lines. sleeves of any kind or are just too much fabric. i'm sure anything you put together will look cute. if you have a sun hat...wear it!

it's the best people watching of the year. last year my friend and i renamed the byron nelson - byronstock.

  10. It's Texas. I am therefore disqualified. Were I attending something similar down at Pebble Beach, I'd wear Bensimon sneakers, COOL khakis, an Italian black polo shirt, and a North Face parka because it's always cold and also I'd want to indicate that I was in no way awed by the event.:). I might relent on the shoes and wear a good pair of black Ferragamo loafers. But we're talking fog...

  11. A cute sundress and sandals!

Be prepared for great people watching as you'll see some ladies wearing outfits better suited for Harry Hines :)

    Have fun!

  13. That's my favorite Kate Middleton FTW picture, ever.

I have no ideas for what to wear to BN, so, I am useless. But, the picture cracked me up.

  15. as of late, when i've been in doubt in warmer months, i've fallen back on skinny white jeans, gold sandals and some sort of lovely top/blouse, etc.

  16. I went last year and will give you this advice: The course is rather hilly so, while it makes for great people-watching, HIGH HEELS ARE A VERY BAD IDEA. But you knew that already, I hope. It's supposed to be crazy-hot this weekend, so I'd go with a cute cotton sundress (preferably strapless for a good tan) and sandals. Have fun!

  17. Polo dress, flat gladiator sandels, over sized shades! Waa Lah!

  18. Or you could say to heck with it and head out in a t-shirt and running shorts (which may or may not be what I would do = )

  19. I'm not the fashionista d'jour, so I've relied upon my go-to fashion blog: http://www.theprovocativewhites.com/301/how-to-dress-up-with-casual-clothes-for-women.html

"For those who have been the air blower of the imperishable demeanour it is critical which we know how to heed in between imperishable as good as husky so have certain which the wear as good as rip in your jeans have been select as good as not old. You might span jeans with any tops which we similar to though for the some-more concurrent demeanour go for versatile shirts. They come in opposite sizes as good as colors as good as tasteful designs as good as patterns. If we know how to emanate the in vogue demeanour we have been upon the right path. Proper wise is required as good as combined accessories can finish your fanciful look."
So there should be no confusion; go with provacative whites and you can't go wrong.

  20. @Tman - Daddy, I have absolutely not the foggiest idea what that means. LUM!

  21. I usually wear flats with a strapless maxi dress that I have put through the sweat test beforehand. No one needs to see evidence of me "glowing" in areas no woman should publicly sweat.

But really... there will be a plethora of prostitutes on-site. So you will see all types of fashion from Lilly to hooker-gear.

  22. Great question. I'd wear a sundress in a fun summer fabric like eyelet or seersucker. Flat sandals, cute hat and sunglasses.... voila! WASP splendor in the grass. :)
