The Name Game, Vol. 2

Alternate Title: Word Association with E.

K: What about Luca?

E: Sure! We could find her a friend named Dean, and they could serve little cappuccinos and brioche to all the neighbors after school!

K: Mmmmmm-kay... Rowan?

E:  Like a boat?

K:  Adelle?

E:  The farmer and ADELLE!  The farmer and ADELLE!

K:  Oh, come on, I love that one.  It's got the Jane Eyre reference going for it and---

E:  You mean the bastard child of the French hooker that Mr. Rochester boned?  No.

K:  Violet?

E:  Hipster.

K:  Vivienne?

E:  Hipster.

K:  Milly?

E: Hipster with a Peter Pan Complex and maybe one of those blue bikes with the basket on the front.

K:  Aaaaand we're done for the day.

  3. Y'all are so funny! I love the name Milly! I also once suggested the name Rowan for our hypothetical babies and got the response in a mocking southern accent you mean our daughter "ROW - Ann". Boys.

  4. My cousin named his daughter Rowan and I always think of the university. Never thought of a boat.

  5. HAHAHAHAHA- I can totally relate. My husband was EXACTLY the same way when we were trying to come up with our little one's name. It was exhausting.

  6. LOL- I adore E's distaste for Hipsters!

  9. I love the name Rowan! I hadn't heard of it until a college sorority sister had her baby. I think it's pretty unique! Can't wait to hear the name you guys chose!!

  10. We'd committed to a new baby girl puppy last year when a similar conversation arose:

Me: "What do you think about Sadie?"

R: "She used to be my homeboy's lady."

Seriously, when they quote Snopp Dogg, there's no salvaging the convo.

  11. This is hilarious! I love all those names, though. Especially Adelle....even with the bastard child attachment.

  12. Luca is one of my favorite names for a girl. My husband doesn't like it either/

  13. I mean, at least the boy keeps it real. My future offspring are definitely going to pass the Ev sniff test before I name them because I'd imagine he's a pretty good test case for future mocking potential by kids in school.

  16. I'm the same way with the hipster names. It's a good thing my parents had super boring taste in names.

  17. See, I'm all "My name is Luca, I live on the second floor..." and isn't that song like, about child abuse or something?

  18. I love reading these conversations! Definitely put a smile on my face. Best of luck with the names!

  20. We are the opposite, I shoot down every name D proposes. In my defense, this week he proposed "Caprice". I was like, why don't we just solidify our daughter's future career as a stripper and name her "Cinnamon" instead?
