yep. that's about all I've got.

* Mini Menu Sunday Monday Tuesday... The two new recipes last week!  Broccoli & Cannellini Bean Soup and Pasta with Browned Brussels Sprouts & Buttery Breadcrumbs.  Both were delicious and could easily be adapted to be vegetarian {just swap the chicken stock for veggie}.

* L and I have been crazy cats about town as of late {until a bad cold majorly bummed out our fun, that is}. In the last week, we've hit up free day at the DMA and the new Klyde Warren Park {see also: FOOD TRUCKS}, and we rode the DART to the Dallas Zoo.  So, essentially, we did a bunch of things L could care less about but make me feel super duper smug and kiddie-cultured. Or whatever.

* Relatedly-ish: I've had several queries on Instagram, and yes, we are loving the UPPAbaby G-Luxe Stroller... I highly recommend it if you're looking for a great umbrella stroller.  And, yeah, I always said I never wanted to be That Mom - Ye With The Armada of Strollers - but, dude, this puppy makes my life way easier, in a First-World-Solutions sort of way.

* Back to that cold... Sick babies, man. There is just nothing more pitiful.  I'll take the coughing and congestion over the feverish virus any day {especially since this cold has my non-cuddlebug buggie seeking out the snuggles}, but it's still been pretty rough around here for the past few days -- mostly because the cough keeps her from getting good sleep.  New Million Dollar Business Model: Formulate Safe Cough Syrup for Infants. Thankfully, I think she's on the mend -- a good thing, as I am running out of non-snot-stained yoga pants.

* I'm tempted to hammer out a few snippets that really should be paragraphs in L's monthly updates... which probably means I should get on the 8th Month Edition, even though we're 1 week away from her 9 month "birthday."  A timely historian I am not.  But!  A proud mama I am, and my heart skips a little bit each day as my girl's personality really starts to emerge. She crawls! She says "dada" and "bah bah" {in reference to The Boom} and "duh" {= duck... you can see how high I rank in her world}!  She dances!  She's just the tops.

* So, The Walking Dead.  Can't get enough.  Except when it comes to Lori.  If someone could gnaw her jaw off soon, I'd be reeeeeeal grateful.  As with all of my Netflix addictions, catching up to the show in real time as quickly as possible would really benefit the greater good of my household.  Between the flesh eating zombies and the common cold, I'm down to the truly heinous back-up-to-the-back-up to the laundry day granny underpants.

  1. Oh no! A cold! We just survived one as well. Have you tired Hyland's Cough? Our little one is a week younger than L and Hyland's has safe doses for their age. Hope you all are better!

  2. Sounds crazy, but...
Rub Vick's Vaporub on Doodlebug's FEET (huh? I know.) and cover 'em up with socks before bed. Cough be gone! I didn't try this until kiddo 2, because it sounded silly. But we've had success. For reals. Good luck!

  3. Listen, I have three strollers and I hate myself for it. BUT, I NEED ALL THOSE STROLLERS. Each one has a specific purpose. After traveling once with my giant Uppa Baby Vista (H was still too little for an umbrella stroller) I can say that a good umbrella stroller is completely necessary. Also: some places around here, like the Children's Museum and such don't allow anything larger than an umbrella stroller.

Also, I would give all my monies for a safe for babies cough syrup. We had the croup recently and it was just heartbreaking.

  4. Oh, the Walking Dead. You need to catch up and stay away from any spoilers. And then let's discuss Lori, creepy Carl, or any of the other characters. Season 3 is turning out to be so much better than Season 2. I am a normal person who does not watch scary movies, but for some reason this zombie apocalypse show has hooked me.

    1. I've stayed away from most spoilers but I know a few things I wish I didn't :( For the moment though, I am in Season 2 - Lori just found out she is pregnant.

    2. This show is intensely addictive. Our household did the similar speed through Netflix to catch up and I am so grateful to only be watching once a week so that my life is no longer dominated by walkers. And, I think I'll stop checking the dumpster for a walker before putting my trash in very soon.

  5. Ugh I HATE Laurie- she is the worst. I keep hoping she dies off. And I also find Carl to be pushing his luck. But LOVE netflix :)

  6. Oh Walking Dead... You must catch up so we can discuss. That show sucked me in like a vortex. Cannot stop.

And I think the little one is looking more and more like her mama as the days go by. Glad she is on the up and up. A sick baby is no fun for anyone :(

  7. PREACH on the infant cough syrup. i kept hoping i'd come across a pediatrician or pharmacist that would say "well, really, one little teaspoon of cough syrup will be fine." but alas, that never happened.

we opted for the vicks on the feet trick and L's cough was gone in two days. i only wish i had tried it sooner.

ps: when did your L get so grown up!? she is beautiful!!

  8. I've been a lurker for awhile now, but never commented (or maybe I have?! I seem to forget a lot more than I care to admit to quite frequently these days!). Our little babes are just a few weeks apart (March 16)- (well, my second daughter and yours). Anywho...wanted to let you know that you can give benadryl to help! It's a miracle drug and I am soooo grateful for it! And no, I don't use it just to get my bugaloo's to sleep sooner, just so I can sip my moscato...but don't think the thought hasn't crossed my mind! I kid, I kid- I think ;) It appears that my sweet muffin is a victim to the horrors of allergies. Fun. My five year old has asthma and sees an allergy and asthma specialist who practiced as a ped before specializing, and during an appt for her, we were told to do zyrtec in the am and benadryl at night for the younger if she needs it. Let me tell you how much easier it is for her to nurse and breathe! Hoping once the zyrtec starts kicking her sysytem's tail, we don't have to use it often, but just wanted to let you know. Also, we are super close with several peds as personal friends, and apparently cough syrups are not quite as scary as we are led to beilieve- just too many overzealous parents who use them incorrectly. We were told by no less than 5 different drs (and all who practice at different places) that we could use them for our older one when she was between 3-4 (just check the dosage with your dr!). No, not for our younger loves, but good to know for later. Also, benadryl can be used to soothe motion sickness...we couldn't go anywhere without the older one throwing up until her ped at the time told us to give her some prior to traveling...it went from dreading every car trip to amazeballs! Geeze....now I sound like the druggy mom whose kids are always assed out from mommy sedating them! Ironically, I am a very hippy dippy mommy! lol! L is so adorable and I you are so much fun to read! Good luck! I hope she feels better soon! It is so heartbreaking seeing them miserable!
