Born for Swag Giveaway!

as i alluded to last week, the Cottage saw quite the action last Wednesday evening when 50+ guests descended upon a little fiesta thrown by SLynnRo, Mojito Maven and myself with the help of Brand About Town and the Gap.

GAPpy Hour - as it was dubbed - featured the mingling of fun friends, the mixing of fabulous cocktails, the munching of yummy food, and the madness that is a slew of fashion-forward women (and some brave, brave men) turned loose in a sea of free denim! i swear, i now know how the employees of Filene's Basement feel at the Running of the Brides - there should have been a camera crew from Nat-Geo at our house to capture the swag-happy-habits of the American Female (a subject that the sociology geek in me finds fascinating but that i shall save for another day because i know you're all thinking "get to the free shit, girl" and get to it i will)!

some photos from the evening:

so funny story - these two hadn't seen each other since their college days back at Baylor University... where they worked together at... the GAP! serendipitous, much?

anyhoo, the gals had their pick of Sexy Bootcut, Always Skinny, and Real Straight - i tried them all and they each would have their place in my closet but the Real Straight were my favs - the dark denim is perfect for a "fancy denim" outfit or for Casual Fridays at A.F. i actually wore them out with a halter top and heels last weekend for the premier Friday opening of Hacienda on Henderson - after an evening on the patio in the Texas heat, i was very pleased that these kept their shape, didn't stretch too much, and looked fantastic all night long (all night! Lionel Richie shout out!).

the guys had the options of Straight, Authentic or Standard... as we know, boys don't give the best reviews but the male attendees seemed pleased with their selections and many of the ladies took a pair home for their guys as well.

moral of the story: check out GAP's new 1969 Born to Fit line in stores now. i'll admit i was skeptical since i haven't entered a GAP for more than the basic white tee since i was in high school, but i think you'll find that GAP is all grown up!

now, to the good stuff! free swag for you!

up for grabs:

a DigiCliq Digital Camera - the specs:
  • includes user manual, software, usb cable and carrying case
  • 3.1 Mega Pixels with 16 MB SDRAM internal plus SD card slot
  • image sensor, 4x digital zoom
  • 3-in-1 Function: captures still images, video images and has a PC mode
i will say, i have not used this camera since i didn't want to get my grubby, guacamole covered hands all over it before bestowing it on one of you, but i can say that it is very light and compact - the perfect-sized point-and-shoot to throw in your clutch purse for a night out!

one $50 gift certificate to the GAP - the specs:
  • $50 worth of free shit from the GAP for you
Rules:
  • two winners will be drawn at random - the first for the camera and the second for the gift certificate
  • you must have a US or Canadian mailing address to enter
  • anonymous entries will not be accepted
  • the deadline to enter is Sunday, August 16 at 11:59 p.m.

Note: the last two photos of the camera and the gift certificate are thanks to Always a Northerner - who took much better pictures of her swag than me!

  1. Ooh fun! Hm, my favorite blue jeans memory: probably the various "fashion shows" my best friend and I would put on at our houses when we were in the 7th and 8th grade. Good times!

  2. hm...mine definitely involves using old blue jeans to go "ice skating" on the linoleum floor in my friend's basement...we thought we were so cool!

  3. This is more of a bad jeans memory...but still funny. When I was in middle school, there was this JNCO jeans trend, you know, the really baggy, wide-leg jeans that all the skater boys were wearing? I got a pair of JNCO girls jeans. Lord.

  4. Favorite blue jeans memory... seems simple enough, but finding the first pair of jeans that fit a 5'2" me perfectly! And they were from the Gap!

  5. I'd never wear jeans in middle or high school. I always said they were uncomfortable! My how times have changed.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mine would have to be the pair of distressed levis my older sister passed down to me -- a gesture that actually made me excited for my first day of middle school!

  7. My favorite memory involves my BFF and I running away from a fraternity where I had stolen something very important and my BFF tripped and grab the back pocket of my favorite jeans and completely ripped the right cheek area completely off. I left her behind and kept running. I still have dreams about how much I loved those jeans.

I would love to win either prizes! There are a million things I want from Gap right now.

  8. I came across your blog from EAD designs...I think. Oh goodness...
My fav blue jean memory: I'm such a girly girl and when I was in 1st grade, I had to dress up like a HOBO! I could not stand the idea or thought of not wearing pink/purple (mind you, I WAS in 1st grade)..I had to wear browns and greens and have holes in my jeans. Looking back at photographs from the day are my absolute favorite.

  9. I'll never forget NEEDING to own a pair of Guess jeans - you know, the kind that were so skinny with the zipper at the ankle. Those jeans were SO expensive to us .. we would NEVER be able to get a pair. I say "WE" because I am a twin and everything had to be done twice. We were in 8th grade.

That Christmas .... we each opened Burdines boxes .. and there lay a beautiful pair of Guess jeans, with the zipper at the ankle.

Just outside the Burdines in our mall, there was a Gap. I remember I couldn't get Gap jeans until I was in highschool. Not sure why our Mom wouldn't let us, but that was the rule. That is probably why I am so anal - to this day - about my jeans!

  10. What a cool giveaway!

My favorite memory involves my favorite pair of blue jeans from senior year and a late night walk with a crush...that is until he tripped me and tore a hole in the jeans. Wasn't funny then, but make me laugh now :)

  11. Oh how I LOVE GAP jeans!! My favorite jean memory - finally getting to wear jeans/whatever I wanted on a daily basis to college after 12 years of my polyester private school uniform! I actually only had one pair of jeans until college - now I have several! :)

I would LOVE either prize! I'm lovin the new stuff at GAP!

  12. I'm so jealous! Sounds like a fun night.

My favorite blue jean memory involves my favorite pair of jeans. Every time I wear them I think about summer time in the mountains.

  13. How freaking fun is that!! I need to go to one of those parties :)

Fave jean memory: When I was about 12 I begged my mom to buy me some Pepe jeans with awesome silk patches all over them. I remember them being like 70 bucks and it was a huge deal to branch out from the Levi's family, but lo and behold, Christmas morning I had the beauties in my hand!

  14. My favorite blue jean memory is from fifth grade. About the time everyone starts caring about clothes and boys... I received an amazing pair of jeans (from Limited Too, the coolest store at the time) for christmas, that I wanted oh so badly! My best friend and I had the EXACT same pair and we thought we were oh so cool

  15. My most memorable jeans moment was back in high school when I was working at my local H-E-B as a cashier. I was scanning the goods for a couple of cute boys and when I turned around to bag their purchases I was asked if the "show was going to cost them extra." It turns out that the jeans I was wearing had split under the back pocket and my ass cheek flashed them. I told them it was no charge, and proceeded to turn bright red!

  16. Would love to throw my name in the hat!

Favorite denim memory? I'll pick a Gap story - after all, I love a theme. Several years ago, Gap introduced their "long and lean" style. My sister and I both tried them on in the dressing room. I, unfortunately, had to go up a size in order to breathe...she did not. She did an obnoxious little song and dance in celebration of this fact. Then we heard someone else in the dressing room say, "Big freaking deal. You need to chill." She and I did the classic stop, look at each other and crack up. Sounds silly, but just one of those sister moments that are funny to remember.

  17. I worked at Abercrombie in college (it was cool then, I swear!) and bought jeans all the time, but there was one particular pair that I bought two of because they went on sale. Fast-forward six years later - they were still my favorite jeans until both pairs started getting worn out and both pairs got multiple holes during the same summer. It was crushing. And of course there is no way in hell Abercrombie has anything comparable anymore! I've since found new favorite jeans but I still have my old favorite jeans in my closet at my parents house because I can't bear to throw them away.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My favorite jeans memory is buying a pair of lime green bell bottom jeans at Marshall's in 7th grade and SWEARING to my dad that I would wear them. They sat, neatly folded, in my closet for two years before discreetly being tossed to the Goodwill. I love my unfortunate fashion sense circa 1996.

    ReplyDelete
  19. My favorite "blue jeans memory" ironically comes from The Gap. My nanny always took me BTS shopping and one of the places we stopped was The Gap. I tried on a pair of jeans and was instantly in love. They were my very first favorite go-to jeans that I could wear with anything. This was 6th grade.

  20. Ok so I don't know if this is my FAVORITE necessarily, but I do distinctly remember being in the bathroom of the movie theater (where David's weird sister worked, no less!) with you when a group of us went to see Ten Thousand Acres (or whatever that boring movie was called) freshman year of HS and we were hotly debating boot cut vs. straight leg jeans from the GAP. I think you won, though I would never admit defeat!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Spending a summer cutting off every pair of jeans I had so I could be Baby from Dirty Dancing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. My freshmen year of high school, I was 6'1 and taller than everyone at school - so to add to the stress of being taller than all boys, long enough jeans were rare. Thankfully the GAP sold long jeans in store and sometimes certain pairs were longer than others. So one day I found a pair of really really long gap jeans, and I was in love with them. Then, one fateful trip to taco bell resulted in me spilling sauce all over them...and my mom did the unthinkable, she dried them.

I am not sure if they were actually too short to wear, but I was so upset with her that I may have not talked to her for a week and returned them.

This definitely is the funniest memory I have of traumatic jean shopping, and I am quite lucky my mom still talks to me. I really thought it was the end of the world, ah being 15.

  23. I would say my favorite jeans memory is in high school on Friday nights during football season I would always wear jeans and it just reminds me of all the good times I've had with my best friends at those games!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Growing up I went to a summer camp where I attended the horseback riding sessions. This was in Louisiana with over 100 degree high temps and we had to ride in jeans. I never cared though because it was so much fun. By the end of the week the few pairs of jeans we all packed were totally gross, smelly, and could probably stand up on their own but we had a ridiculous amount of fun in them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am so jealous!

Thinking about jeans always reminds me of my jean "don't."

A.K.A.-- pegged legs and acid wash. New jeans always remind me about how far I've come in life. =]

    ReplyDelete
  26. I had this great pair of straight, legged faded Levis... for ever and ever. Like, since high school. They were in storage while I was working out of the country - and when I put them on again, I realized that the waist was suddenly far too high to be stylish. So off they went to Goodwill. Now boyfriend jeans and higher waists are in again, and I miss those perfectly worn in dear old friends that I so hastily disposed of.

  27. this isn't necessarily a "funny" jeans memory- but it is one that has stuck with me, and one that now reminds me to be proud of my body whatever it's size and in all its normalness- curves, imperfections and all. i was shopping with my mom at the gap in high school and was trying to find a particular size on the botton of a stack of jeans. a gap employee came over to ask if i needed help, and asked what size i wore. i told him the size (8), to which he responded, "oh- a big girl size!" at the time i could have cried (to a high school girl, any "big girl" remarks are devastating). i looked at him in horror, as did my mom. i found jeans that day, but left in tears. that comment has forever stuck with me, and while once a negative, i now laugh because NO size is any size to be ashamed of, and i am who i am! i'll never be a size 0 or 2-- and that's perfectly okay!

thanks for hosting the giveaway- can't wait to read everyone's stories!

  28. whoops - that was 'straight-legged.'

  29. My favorite jean memory happened a few months ago - I was able to get back into 2 of my all-time favorite jeans after having WLS. I've lugged them around with me from duty station to duty station in hopes I'd get back into them, and I have. And they still feel as awesome today as they did 5+ years ago. :)

  30. My fave jeans memory - lying on my bed while my mom had to pull my acid wash, zipper leg jeans off because they were so tight. I used to wear them with ice cream cone socks (did other people do that too? Wear many pairs of diff color socks and then fold them down so you could see all the colors?) and keds without laces (prob a direct result of them being too tight because i was wearing so many pairs of socks!). Ahh, 80's fashion :-)

  31. Ah! Love my dark dark dark joe's jeans. They fit perfectly and I wore them the night my husband proposed so every time I wear them, I remember that night!

    ReplyDelete
  32. My favorite jeans memory is wearing my jeans, wellies, and walking into a pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins!

    ReplyDelete
  33. My favorite jeans memory takes place just before my husband and I were married. He knew that I really loved GAP jeans but didn't know what kind, so he recruited my little sister to find out, and then the 2 of them went shopping together for them. He gave them to me on my birthday (which was also during our honeymoon). He told me the story behind them and it was just so sweet :-) I loved those jeans!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hmmm..favorite blue jeans moment...When I grew up enough to finally say no to ultra-low-cut jeans and wear a nice pair that fit my big rump and disproportionate waist.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Bumpkin went years never wearing jeans. So the best memory for me was the first time that John saw me in jeans. It's great when they give you that look.

    ReplyDelete
  36. my fav jeans memory is going boating in them in college!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am a jean girl at heart.. But don't have too many memories. I bought my first and only pair of 7 For All ManKind jeans at the Bloomingdales in NYC (first trip to the East Coat with Mom). I couldn't believe I was spending so much mula, but I wore them until they practically fell apart.

Best Jean Memory: Going through Mom's closet a few years ago and getting rid of every last pair of MOM JEANS! :) That was such a victory.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't have too many memories per se, but my hubs was a "Denim Specialist" at the GAP in college. Way. before. I. met. him. Seriously, I giggle everytime I think about that title/job he held!

  39. I loved my first pair of expensive jeans! They were from Abercrombie and fit like a glove. I still can remember the way I felt in them.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The first time I wore a pair of Lucky jeans in middle school with a pair of black Simple clogs - I thought I was the epitome of fashion. My stepmom got the jeans for me and I felt so cool, until my mom saw that the fly said "Lucky You" when it was unzipped.

  41. Looked like an awesome party!!

My fave jeans memory was in 5th grade...when I finally wore jeans to school. I had this thing with loving corduroy pants up until then (weird, i know)....but at age 11 I came to know the wonders that are blue jeans!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I don't know if it's a favorite, but it was memorable! My roommate in college (who is in fashion these days) was examining my goods and came across a pair of denim overalls that I couldn't part with from who-knows-when. Still haven't lived that one down!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My blue jeans memory isn't exactly the happiest, but it definitely was the most mortifying. I had a pair of Sevens that I wore.to.death. Seriously. Three years of wearing them to practically every occasion. Why? Because they did magical things to my backside. Well, on a first date, I of course wore them. As we were perusing a bookstore I bent down and heard the worse sound. Rip right in the nether region. Mooooooortifying.

    ReplyDelete
  44. So - it's a recent memory. I actually went to the Gap about a week ago to try on all these jeans that everyone has been raving about. I always think of myself as 'curvy' but I wanted to try on the 'long and leans' anyway. I tried on the size that usually fits - too big. I tried on the next size down and they were still too big. One more size down and I had a perfect fit and a nice little number on the tag :) It was one of the first times that Jean shopping was really fun! I didn't buy them then, but I plan to :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. My Fav Jeans Memory- I had just lived through a pretty bad apt fire- when the awesome fire fighters gave me 5 minutes to get "essentials"- the only thing I grabed...MY JEANS (all 30 pairs). My BF couldn't believe his eyes!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Just one jean memory-I love my jeans. Finding a great pair of jeans feels almost as good as finding a great dress. Almost. I also love finding jeans that last longer than a season.

  47. My favorite is fitting back into the first pair of coture jeans I ever purchased at the tender age of 21. AND they are 100 percent cotton, no spandex, no cheating.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My favorite jeans memory is one that continues, there is nothing like slipping into your favorite pair of great fitting jeans that help hide the "problem areas" and make you feel good as gold!

    ReplyDelete
  49. My favorite jeans memory. Hmmm Well Since I have the memory of a goldfish, I think my favorite memory would have to be my first pair of sevens. I was so excited to get them and become (in my mind) trendy. I got them my first year of college and I thought I was the shit. :) They were the dark wash, regular boot cuts and I still own them today!

Great giveaway and party recap. I'm jealous of your fabulous texan life :)

  50. My favorite blue jeans memory involved: my current boyfriend and a jeep. We were driving around, I ended up jumping into the pool, with jeans on, hopped the fence, and got my butt caught on the top, I had a huge rip. He took out a knife and ripped his so we matched. I still own them just because of that memory.

    ReplyDelete
  51. One of my favorite pairs of jeans was from when I was young (elementary school maybe?) and I was able to get jeans with glitter in them! If that is not the makings of a princess, then I don't know what is! =)

    ReplyDelete
  52. my favorite memory of jeans would be fitting back into "real jeans" two weeks after i had my baby. I tried on about three pairs, and when they fit, IMMEDIATELY took all maternity clothes out of my dresser/closet and stored them away!! woohoo---then i went to gap and bout 2 new pairs :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. My favorite memories involve (seriously) a pair of Gap jeans that I had in high school. They fit so comfortably that I wore them EVERYWHERE!!!! No lie. I wish I could still fit in them, but alas, I cannot. :(

    ReplyDelete
  54. Seeing as how I am 5'll and need jeans with at least a 36 inch inseam I take what I can get. By get...I mean I often find myself scanning the bottom of jean racks to see which pair is closest to dragging on the floor and I try on that pair. I had an almost perfect pair of jeans in college. They were some kind of polyester blend that fit just right around the butt. Problem...they were about 1/2 an inch too short. Solution...after each wash....instead of putting these fabulous jeans in the dryer....I put my foot on the crotch, grabbed a leg with each hand and then pulled! This added that extra 1/2 inch i required! This worked perfectly until the day that I ripped both legs off at almost the exact same spot leaving me with a two jean tubes and a pair of polyester blend jean shorts at a hideous length!

I am happy to say that I am now loving my new GAP jeans and loving the fact that I don't have to stretch them! : )

  55. Thanks for the chance to win some of the goodies!
My favorite jean memory would be back in college when we would paint or jeans for rush. We would get so into decorating our jeans with our letters and make them look outrageous and loud. We would even wear them to greek week etc...Now looking back so tacky but such great memories. Now the girls can not do that anymore...may be a good thing ;)

  56. I recently bought the Almost Kinny on a rec from a sales girl at Banana Republic. They are surprisingly fantastic!

My favorite jeans memory involves a pair of jeans that I had to save up to buy from Abercrombie my senior year of high school...I was still wearing them 6 years later and they were covered in holes but I just couldn't bear to part with them. They had been with me through countless frat parties, football games, pub crawls, movies and dates. TO t his day they still sit in my closet even though I am scared to wear them because I am scared they will disintegrate.

  57. Thanks for hosting a great giveaway!

Fave blue jean memory: after school shopping for new clothes in 6th grade, my friend and I decided to (as suggested by Seventeen magazine! ah!) make our new jeans more "hippie" inspired by cutting out chunks of the bottoms to "sew" fabric in. Except we didn't have a sewing machine... or really know what we were doing. Man, my mom was pissed....

  58. best giveaway ev-ah!

my favorite jeans memory? going shopping and being able to squeeze my derriere into a size 4! i rocked those skinny jeans tucked into my knee-high leather boots pretty much every day that winter. we had so many good times together - out with the crew, meeting new boys at bars, even classing it up with co-workers.

i think it's time to make a new denim friend - or take pictures of that old favorite.

  60. Thanks - this is a great giveaway! One of my fave jean memories is one of my birthdays (I turned 23 I think?) when I got a gift certificate to a group of stores - I went out shopping that day and ended up buying some great jeans. I got my first 2 pairs of designer jeans and have loved them ever since!

  61. What a great giveaway (and great time trying on jeans!!)

My fav jean memory is of the amazing skinny leg jeans I found in Paris. The back pockets had a layered star look and they looked amazing. A year came to my eye the day the button snapped off (two years later). I've never found a pair like it since...

  65. Jean cutoff shorts from Express, white tank top, summer in college. I had 3 boys calling trying to take me out, when the whole time I had a serious long distance boyfriend. However, attention is never bad! It was a fun summer, and now I only wish I could fit into those shorts!

  66. My favorite blue-jeans memory is two-fold. In the summer of 2006, I had been working out and was in the best shape of my life. I decided to spoil myself with some new jeans, and went to Buffalo Exchange. Where I found the greatest. Sevens. ever. for like $15. I wore the bejeezus out of them and they fit me like a glove.

Fast forward to spring 2009, when after slimming down (again) for my wedding, GREATEST. SEVENS. EVER. FIT ME AGAIN!! I have since been wearing them again and I can't help being giddy when I put them on. They are my perfect jeans and it feels good to be able to wear them again.

  67. My favorite jeans moment was definitely buying my first pair of designer jeans in college. I thought because I was 5'2" on a good day that I couldn't wear all of the designer jeans that everyone else was sporting but I finally got up the courage to go try some on and they fit! A little hemming later and I was good to go. Now if only I could still fit into those jeans...

  68. My favorite memory is when Gap came out with Long and Lean and "longs" were actually long enough for me. I still have like 4 pairs of them!

    ReplyDelete
  69. well, I think my favorite blue jean memory is probably not a single memory, per se, but the memory of pinch-rolling my light stone-washed mom-style jeans in 7th and 8th grade while wearing thick, bright, slouched socks, many plastic bangles and highly teased hair. I can't make ANY fashion mistake that trumps that, EVER, am I right? Right? Please say I'm right!
Thanks for the give-away opportunity! I linked here from SLynnRo, great blog!

  70. Hello Dear! I think you will remember my favorite demin memory. It involes gap bootcut in 6 longs and wearing the shrunken football jeresy shirt at a WHS game. Both pieces were borrowed from my best friend who I may or may not have drooled on after surgery!

Hope I win! I am in need of a new camera or some new jeans for fall.

  71. My favorite blue jeans memory comes from when I was a sorority traveling consultant and I was visiting a chapter at a school that will not be named in Arizona. They were telling me of these "magical jeans" that fit everyone (kind of like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants). I was skeptical but I tried them on anyway and sure enough, even though I was about 6 inches shorter(and probably 15 lbs heavier) than the owner of the jeans, they fit.

Sadly, they were not Gap but these new jeans look awesome and I will have to check them out.

  72. Awesome giveaway!

My favorite jeans memory would have to be very simple... just losing some weight {20 lbs.} and trying on a pair of jeans in a store's fitting room that I didn't think would fit and they did! I was so surprised and just felt really good about all the healthy habits I was following to get to that point.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

My favorite blue jeans memory is from my freshman year in college & found THE perfect pair of "going out" jeans - perfected with a Swarski crystal flourish design on one of the back pockets & all :-)

It was one of my first nights going out with all of my new sorority sisters, that ended at the Waffle House, ha!!! A fun night with the girls freshman year of college = perfect!

Thanks for the opportunity, I'll be crossing my fingers :-)

  75. Ohh, sign me up!!

My favorite blue jeans memory, huh? I don't know that this is my "favorite" per say, but, it stands out the most! I lived on the 4th floor of my freshman dorm and since our elevator NEVER worked, we always took the stairs. I had recently lost some weight and was going on a date--so I was wearing a super cute pair of Levi's (all I could afford)--low rise, bootcut (um, early 2000s, thanks) with a white tank and pink sweater and brown heels. All was going well as we walked down the stairs (which were sketchy to say the least) when I slipped on a puddle of water, fell down several stairs, and my jeans decided now would be a good time to be too big! So, there I was, pantalones around my knees, shoe off and a wet butt (thanks to the puddle). Horrific to say the least. Good thing I have a sense of humor and laughed it off--I had a fun date! Nothing came of it (someone I don't think the fall helped), but, I did wear those same jeans months later on my first date with my now husband--maybe they're lucky? Too bad my half sisters babysitter has sticky fingers and stole them a few years back...

  76. Thanks Kate! My favorite blue jeans memory? Oh my, can't believe I am going to admit this, but I thought my "Girly Jncos" in 8th grade were pretty awesome. It was all my mom could do to stop me from saving for these, hehe! I have a slew of memories to go with from first boyfriends to sneaking out with girlfriends...

  77. My favorite memory is from senior year of college - i lost some weight and finally could fit into my skinny jeans again - love that feeling!

  78. My favorite blue jeans memory? Without a doubt, the day I got my L.A. Gear acid washed jeans with the pink shoelaces up the sides of the legs. I felt so cool when I wore those jeans. I must have looked like such a nerd. Thank God it was the 80's - everyone looked ridiculous!

  79. Fitting into a pair of True Religions that I had purposely bought too small 2 months prior. and they fit perfectly!

  80. My favorite pair of jeans was a trusty pair of Levis. I took them to Tibet, where they did everything from ride a yak to climb a portion of the Himalayas. Great giveaway!

  81. My most memorable jeans story has to do with the Fall semester of my senior year of college. My girlfriends and I felt so cool always going out in "jeans and heels." My favorite outfit was my long and leans, a BR pink flowery shirt and those pointy toed heels or "witch shoes" (as called by our guy friends) which I wore out for one of my bff's 21st birthday. Debauchery ensued *I don't want to embarrass anyone :)* and there were quite a few stains on those jeans and some intense scuff marks on those shoes. Love 'em.

  82. although its quite corny; my favorite jean memory was when i was about 10 and had gone to the cape to stay with my grandma during summer... i had this pair of gap blue jean overalls (okay, this was the 90's) and slowly they stopped fitting over the summer... i felt as though i had still stayed the same size, but i was eating fudge everyday from the neighbors candy shoppe... well i get on a plane to head home, land, and am looking for my mom like crazy at the airport, i see her walking past me over and over... and she goes "oh my god, i thought you were someone elses fat child in overalls"... till the day she died i never let her live it down!

  83. Oh, pick me!

I got my favorite pair of jeans at Charlotte Russe, actually, and they fit me perfectly, even though none of the other clothes there do. I always wore them when I went out on the weekends in college. Guys loved them and they made me feel so sexy. I gained weight at one point, so they stopped fitting. I've lost the weight though and they fit again! And I'm so excited!

  84. My favorite jeans memory involves a ferris wheel at a little town fair...a fall night...my parents basement...and the most perfect kiss.

  85. Well, my latest blue jeans memory is when I ripped a huge hole in the knee at work while catching it on a drawer I left open. Not really my favorite memory...but one that explains how badly I need jeans :) Thanks for hosting!

  86. My favorite memory involves an old pair of jeans and my mom. We had just moved into our new house and my mom and I were painting my new room (pink, of course). We listened to 70s rock, laughed, and got paint everywhere but on the walls. My mom and I don't always get along, so it's memories like these that I really cherish.

  87. My favorite jeans memory was my first trip to NYC! My mom and I went for Easter weekend for a girls trip...all I wanted was to go shopping at Bergdorf's and get a pair of 'designer' jeans. The whole experience was amazing...first trip to NYC, first trip to Bergdorf's and first pair of 'Seven' jeans! I wore those jeans until they fell apart.

  88. What a great giveaway!! :) My favorite jeans memory is in high school, when ripped jeans were in...it was so cool to let your jeans rip at the knees and then sew patches of plaid fabric or any other random fabric on them! I would buy jeans, and then rip up the bottoms, and wear them out as much as possible! My mom hated it!!! LOL!

  89. Oh mama needs a new pair of jeans!! Or a new camera... ;)

My favorite memory is when I decided to acid wash my own jean shorts in the 5th grade... all I can say is that big bleach spots on freshly cut off jean shorts (aka no fray) is not the look I was going for. But Mom made me wear them anyways... I might still need therapy because of it.

  90. Gap jeans have ALWAYS been the only jeans that have fit me perfectly.

In middle school, I was running to catch my bus after talking to this really CUTE new exchange student and I fell on my face (in front of him) and ripped one of the knees in my gap jeans. So sad. But he AIMed me that night.

  91. My favorite memory actually involves GAP! I always dreaded jean shopping - nothing ever fit my bootay the right way. So frustrating! Well, a few months ago, new jeans were in order after I lost 30 pounds. Into the Gap dressing room I trudged, arms loaded with a few sizes I thought might work. To my surprise, all of the sizes were too big! (YAY) I had to ask the sales girl to bring me a size that I hadn't worn since I was 14 years old. I pulled them on, zipped them up, and did a happy dance up and down the aisle of the dressing room (admiring my hot little tush the whole time)!

  92. pick me!! i am a walking talking gap add!! my fav jean memory was when my younger sister introduced me to boot cut jeans. i was stuck wearing straight leg levi's until i was about a freshman in high school and she told me that i desperately needed to be introduced to boot cut. i always thought my hips were too big for that style but alas, all they did was make them mo' betta!!!

  93. OMG- I need some new jeans!! Perfect giveaway! I have nothing but maternity jeans right now, b/c my pre preg jeans DONT FIT...bleh! So my fav blue jean memory has to be the fad that came about when you rolled your jeans. Flip to the right and roll twice, I mean seriously I think I might have had the best roll out there...and given I win the gift card Id be willing to show my mad skills yet again!! Go me go!!

  97. My favorite jean memory comes from a pair I purchased from Wet Seal when I was in 8th grade. I spent $15.00 or my hard earned babysitting money and went home with a light denim jean with mulitcolored patches all over them. I bought them specifically to wear to my first concert- Janet Jackson. I feel incredibly cool the entire night ( I also crimped my hair for added awesomeness!)

  98. I don't know about the best, but my funniest (possibly worst) memory was in college--I was wearing a pair of really cute but comfortable jeans and going to dinner with a guy I was kinda dating and as I climbed out of his car at the restaurant, the inside of one of the legs ripped a huge ten inch hole! I worked really hard to keep him from finding out and he never did! Talk about embarassing...

  99. My favorite jeans memory is finding that perfect pair after I lost about 20 pounds. Putting on jeans without a roll of fat at the top is an awesome feeling.

  100. What a fun party - I was in the big D at the time too. Maybe I'll catch you next time?

Soooo, my most recent fave jeans story took place this past Feb. at my parents house in IL - the house I grew up in - in my old room. My sister and I were getting ready for my engagement party and her jeans were too tight for her to zip up. I told her to lay down on the bed and I got up there, straddling her standing on the bed in my jeans and bra, and as we struggled to zip my fiance, dad, and Uncle came into the room. It must have been a sight because they didn't say a word about it!! Just turned around and walked out single file.

  101. I would love to have a little denim try on party like that!

My favorite denim memory...I was wearing a new pair of jeans and my son came up behind me and grabbed me around one leg...with paint all over his hands from fingerpainting! If they had been older jeans, I would not have washed them and kept them that way forever! As it was, I didn't want to wash the handprints away!

  102. I spent about 200 bucks on my first pair of Seven For All Mankind jeans. I wore them the night I got them, and tripped walking into a bar. In front of 50 or so people waiting in line. So awesome! But they didn't rip or tear- whoo hoo!

  103. Pick me! Pick me! (I'm just a little excited)

Well, my first blue jeans memory would have to be getting a pair of Levis overalls when I was around 5 years old and thinking that they were a little too baggy for my liking but then when I wore them around I realized they were pretty comfortable.

Also, jeans have gotten so much better in the last 15 years. I remember when they didn't have stretch to them at all and felt rough.

  104. my best jeans memory would have to be my 21st birthday, when my roommates had a party for me in our apartment and my friend julie danced so much that she literally split her pants -- a huuuge hole down the seam. it was hilarious!

  105. My favorite blue jeans memory definitely involves the first day of college orientation. I was SO nervous to meet my roommate but when she showed up I knew we would be great friends because we were wearing the exact same pair of jeans (same size and everything). We both still share an intense obsession with denim :)

  106. My favorite blue jean memory is when I was in about the 8th grade, bell bottom jeans came back in style and I reeeealy wanted some! Well, my mom bought some for me and said they looked good on me. However, when I showed my jeans to my dad (who never cared about my clothes before) he told me they were too ghetto and he demanded we take them back. My mom said I didn't have to, I just tried not to wear them around dad. But then a few days later, I put them on and was getting ready for school and my dad says "Where did you get those jeans, they look nice!!" Oh dad....

  107. Well mine comes from H.S. when I was a punk rock listening, skateboarding loving, and parent worrying high school honor student/cheerleader that preferred to date guys that my parents hated. I also wore a pair of black jeans that were from our of my skinny guy friend. I loved those pants... they were a little baggy...due to the fact that I wore those with black/white doc's and was secretly dating a boy behind their back... they started to think my friend Sara and I were lesbians. I'm not even joking... my mom even sat me down and told me that they would be okay with me being a lesbian. It was so freaking funny...but I couldn't tell them that I was dating a guy that they forbid me to date for the last year... it all started from wearing boy's jeans, salvatin army tshirt/cardigan and a harmless pair of docs...

  108. My fave jeans memory.. hmmm. Would have to be when I got busted climbing out of the boys dorm in college. See, I ripped my favorite pair of jeans on the window as I was hauling ass out of it. I would never have gotten caught except that I left a piece of fabric behind. I didn't think about it and wore my deliciously now 'ripped' jeans to an assembly the next day. Walked by the dean and was busted. Moral of the story: Don't go to a ridiculously small church college. You will stay in trouble!

  109. my favorite blue jeans memory would be about 9 months ago when I wore my regular (not maternity) jeans for the last time. now that my baby is here... it is my goal in life to get back in to those bad boys.... :)

  110. When I first started going to concerts, there was a certain pair I wore to EVERY show. I would actually make a little mark on the size tag noting the show I went to in them. The first time I saw my then-favorite band, I wore those jeans. The first time I met the band, I was wearing those jeans. The first time I got on their guestlist, I was wearing those jeans. They're too small for me now, but I still have them tucked safely away in a drawer =)

  111. I practically live in them, so it's hard to pick just one. I'm going to say the day I realized that jeans + cute heels could = an amazing casual chic outfit. :)

  112. I always associate my jeans with fall...I love to throw on a pair of blue jeans and a comfy sweatshirt for a crisp fall outing...football game, pumpkin patch or just a walk.

  113. My favorite jeans memory isn't that old...only about three and a half years ago. I had moved off to the big city after grad school, and bought my first "fancy" pair of jeans - an awesome pair of Citizens of Humanity that fit me like a glove. It was the first time I had experienced true love with a pair of jeans. AND, only a few weeks later, I met my now-husband...a coincidence? I doubt it!!! :)

  114. when I was a little girl (maybe four or five?) I decided I didn't ever want to wear jeans because of the way the crotch creased when I sat down. It would make a little pucker, and I was terrified people would think I was a boy. Because, you know, the hair and the girly clothes wouldn't clue them in. But I didn't wear jeans for YEARS. I was probably in sixth grade before I got over my fear.

  115. I remember trying on each other of my friends jeans in middle school. I was always the tall girl and none of my friends had long enough pants! I hated it! But thinking back on it today makes me smile as I love being taller!

  116. I have these old Silver jean shorts. You know the brand sold at the Buckle back in the day. They are really tiny and I can't get my booty in them anymore, but I refuse to get rid of them because they hold so many memories for me. I think I've had them since junior high. I wore them for probably 5 summers straight.

  119. My favorite blue jeans memory would have to be when I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch in high school and we would prank call other stores pretending to be customers who were angry that their new jeans had holes in them.. good times :)

  120. my favorite jeans memory? probably the 2 blissful months that I didn't have to wear jeans after I got laid off. it was fantastic.

seriosuly though, i went to gap today (when did they drop the "the" from "the gap"?) to try these jeans on and they were so amazing i had to buy a pair! jeans never fit me.

  121. I popped over the EAD Living (I'm a new blogger there) and I absolutely love it!

Anyhow, my favorite jean memory is of my FAVORITE pair of jeans in high school from Abercrombie. They were sooo comfy, but still fitted. I wore them until the butt ripped partially and then I still wore them – on senior spring break to Miami. I thought I was so cool, I would not wear them like that ever again, but at the time I felt like a million bucks.
