hello yellow

I'm a big believer that if you surround yourself with lovely, positive things, you'll start to feel lovely and positive.  And then - if you want to get really cosmic - lovely, positive things will begin to come back to you because of all that lovely, positive energy you've been pumping into the universe.

And since I could use a shot of cheery on this very dreary, very unemployed, very nothing-stimulating-to-do day, I give you some of my favorite, material "LPTs"... all in a take-on-the-day burst of bright yellow!

I think they'd be a fun, kitschy contrast to our already-happy-go-lucky-bedding:

  1. All such pretty pick-me-ups! I especially love the skirt and framed heart - what would we do without Etsy?

  2. I neeeeeeeeed that dress!

Keep up the positive thinking, especially in this nasty weather. But hey, only 2 days til we're sipping YELLOW (ish) mimosas, lady!

  10. Love the "shot of cheery."

I've been sick all week, and I'm convinced if I had those Anthro sheets on my bed, I would feel much better.

  12. Can't believe I am the first commenter dying over the mustard skirt.......I'm dying here, Kate, you have no idea how much money you have cost me....I love you for that, and trust me there is no way for My John to track the culprit. Keep your chin up, it's coming I promise!

My Mardi Crewe is not surpisingly requiring black or gold evening wear for our ball. (Saints big heads) I just don't think brunettes can do gold well?
What's your thought oh fashion diva?

  13. Hey I've been meaning to comment about this but I forgot. In a post a while back you said you initially went to law school thinking you would give back, but you got sidetracked by money (first of all I love the honesty in that post), but second of all it got me thinking. I live in Austin, and one of my friends works at a law firm that fights for the civil rights of the medical and physically disabled. I'm 90% sure there is more than one office for this organization because when they're working in Texas they only cover certain counties (and none of the counties they cover are in the Dallas area). Anyway, she loves her job, loves it. I don't know if they are hiring as in a paid position, but I doubt they would turn you down if you wanted to volunteer some hours, and then you never know that might lead to you finding a job there, or making a great connection somewhere else that could lead to a job.

Anyway, it might be a shot in the dark, but if you're interested let me know, and I'll talk to my friend and see if she can give you any further information....

  15. I tried on the Solar Star Blouse at Anthro. It was super cute, but so were the other 5 shirts I tried on. That store is dangerous!

  17. I randomly found your blog and I love it! That blouse from Anthro is beautiful...would look so cute with a pair of black skinnys!!

I read that you went to Wake for undergrad. I actually went to Carolina. Yay NC! :)

And as far as career options go, have you ever considered doing legal marketing? I do PR for a big law firm in DC and love it. It is a great way to be creative in a law firm setting. Not sure if you are at all interested, but let me know if you have any questions!

  26. Hi Kate! I heard that my bestie Maggie (Mrs. Everlasting) told you I've been reading (although I believe her description may have been slightly more colorful) your blogs so.... I thought I would delurk myself! Thanks for reinspiring my belief in the possibilities of non-boring work attire at conservative law firms. :)
