friday porn

{Note: The Readers have spoken!  Monday will officially be The Great Parking Hustle of 2003 Day... stay tuned!}

I have an official "thing" for exposed shelving and glass-front kitchen cabinets. They appeal to my somewhat bi-polar / somehow co-existing need for organization and love for kitschy decor additions.  And, um, a wall full of 'em would give me another excuse to "adopt" more latte bowls!

{unforch, credit is unknown...
but Design*Sponge would be a good bet, as you can see}

And I know this one's a bit out of its category but I just couldn't resist the bottle collection, wellies, and wrapping paper!

Do you like your cabinets naked?  Or are your wine glasses and cereal bowls prude?

  1. I would love for my cabinets to be naked! We got so many beautiful things for our wedding and glass cabinets would be a great way to show them off. The chalk board kitchen wall is pretty amazing!

  2. I don't think I'm on board with the exposed shelving trend. I'm such a klutz so I would probably end up knocking everything off. And I really don't like it when it's close to the ground because I fear pets and/or kiddies might get hurt or break something.

    BUT, I love me some glass-front cabinets. The rent house we're in right now has them. We're not married yet(or, um, engaged) so I've decided that all of our registry selections will be determined based on how pretty they would look in glass-front cabinets.

  3. I currently have exposed shelving and there are two things I don't like: unless your dishes/glasses/serveware are perfectly coordinated, in reality it looks like the shelf at a thrift store plus the open shelves collect pet hair, dust, and cooking smoke/grease. On the plus side putting away the dishes is really quick!

    BUT I do love glass-fronted cabinets.

  4. I would love some open shelves, but everytime I comment on them my mom says, "Be realistic, do you know how dusty everything would get." Who says it needs to be practical? It's all about the look!!!

  5. I don't think I could do it, I think everything would get dusty and dirty and that is just not worth the effort... however, I do like glass fronted cabinets, but even then I think I prefer when the glass is smokey so you can't see through it and back lit....

    I dunno, I hate to clean so much that the idea of how clean I would have to keep those shelves just puts me off!
